about

In August of 2023 I was working through some complex emotions surrounding my firstborn child moving away from home, being in my 50's (hence the name Mid-Life Acid) and the realization of how easy it is to allow fears to consume us.

While pondering this, I found myself drawn to the one instrument that has been with me on my entire musical journey, my beloved old Roland TB-303. I have spent countless years of my life exploring all the different emotions I could coax out of this magical silver box, but this time felt different and more cathartic than I can explain in words.

When I initially wrote these pieces they were sparse and did not have any drums. The only instrument used to create every melodic sound was the TB-303 using different approaches, including playing pads by swelling individual notes into a looper pedal to build chords! After listening to these ideas for a couple of months, I felt they needed something to give them more impact and decided to explore different rhythmic structures and drums.

Everything you hear on these songs that is not a drum/percussion sound, is my TB-303 and guitar pedals (Microcosm, Mood MK2, Big Sky, Zoia, El Capistan).
